Christ Church Honor Roll
Location: 7 Sladen Street, Birregurra
On Sunday 9 July 1916 the Christ Church Honor Ross was unveiled by Rev. J. W. Davison, the Rural Dean of Colac at a special service. The church was well filled with prayers being said by Rev. McCall, vicar of the parish. The Honor Board was placed in the porch of the church, and contained the names of twenty-one members of the congregation, one of whom had made the great sacrifice.

McLennan Memorial Church Honor Roll

A service conducted by Chaplain Captain R. M. Fergus, M.A., Geelong was held in connection with the unveiling of the Honor Roll was held in the McLennan Memorial Church Birregurra, on Sunday afternoon 24 March, 1918. The preacher was proud to be there to unveil the Honor Roll, containing the following names, three of whom would never return:
- May, R. A. Ramsay, J. C. Farquharson, A. F. Campbell, J. W. May, S. Griffin, P. McCallum, D. Gelletly, S. Nicholas, A. Fletcher, W. C. Robertson, A. B. Camm, A. Wilson, R. J. Sanderson, G. Sanderson, C. Hamm.
“The Honor Board is constructed of blackwood of specially selected figure and grain, and is designed to harmonise with Gothic church architecture. The central board is Gothic headed, and contains the writing. At each side are shafts with foliated carved capitals, the slender shafts being typical of the best gothic work. The top arch pieces and sills at bottom have the typical under cast moulds and the whole board reflects credit both in the manufacture and design, and is in keeping with the church. The board was manufactured and supplied by Peters and Co.Colac.”

State School Honor Board
Location: Birregurra Primary School, 56 Beale Street, Birregurra
On Friday 21st June 1918 the Honour Roll of the Birregurra State School was unveiled by the Minister for Education, Mr. Hutchinson, in the presence of a large gathering of parents, scholars and the community. The grounds of the school were trimmed out by Union Jacks hanging from the trees. The Chairman of the School Committee, Dr. Kirkpatrick explained that both the Honor Board and the album and case were specially designed by the Ballarat School of Mines, the total cost amounting to £40. The Board was erected in memory of the heroes who had fallen and those past scholars of the School who were serving at the front. By coincidence, Major Eller, a former pupil of the school was home on furlough was a welcomed visitor to the event.
